Social media automation: Do even more with Buffer using Zapier and IFTTT

Introduction

We’re thrilled to integrate with both Zapier and IFTTT (If This Then That). Before we dive into some ideas for using these tools, let's first answer the question of what these two tools are set out to accomplish. Zapier and IFTTT are both web automation apps, allowing you to create connections to push data from one app to another using triggers and actions. In Zapier these are called “Zaps” and in IFTTT these are called “Recipes”.
Lots of automations that can be achieved using Zapier, can also be achieved using IFTTT, and vice versa. This does mean it can be a little tricky deciding which tool to use, and from my experience, it generally comes down to personal preference and which tool you find easier to use!  process.st have written a really neat comparison of the tools. Here's a great graphic from their blog, which summarises their thoughts:

You can read their full write-up here!

One important key difference, which may be a deciding factor for you, is that you can only connect 1 social account to IFTTT. For more information, please click here.

Here are just a few of the popular zaps and recipes being used by Buffer customers:

We were recently joined by  Anne Mercogliano, the VP of Marketing at IFTTT, on our #bufferchat, and she kindly shared her insights about using automation to support marketing. During the chat, our community discussed ways to incorporate automation into a social media strategy, awesome IFTTT life hacks, their favorite marketing IFTTT recipes, and much more! Check out the #bufferchat recap here!

And of course, if you haven’t found what you’re looking for here, why not create your own zaps and recipes? We’d love to hear about any cool ones you come up with! 😄

Zapier and IFTTT are both super useful tools for automating tasks outside of Buffer as well. Looking for more inspiration? Check out these blogs!
