[Publish] Setting up Direct Scheduling for Instagram

Please ensure you take the time to follow this guide carefully, as there are some crucial steps to cover in order to get things up and running successfully. If you run into any issues, please refer to our troubleshooting guide.

In this guide we'll walk through enabling Direct Scheduling if your Instagram account is already connected. If you are connecting your Instagram account for the first time, please refer to this guide.

Please note, any posts that were scheduled before enabling up Direct Scheduling, will remain as Reminders in your Queue.

1

Select your Instagram account on the left hand side of your dashboard.

2

You'll see a blue message at the top of your Queue. Click Set up Instagram direct scheduling.

3

Is your Instagram account already a Business Profile? Skip straight to step 4!

In the next step you'll see this video, walking you through how to convert your Instagram Personal Account to a Business Profile, along with written steps underneath. Once you've completed these steps, click I've converted to a Business Profile.

IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SELECT A FACEBOOK PAGE

During the process of converting your Instagram account, you'll be prompted to select a Facebook Page. This is required in order to use Direct Scheduling with Buffer Publish. You might notice that it is possible to skip this step, but if you do, an unmanaged Facebook Page will be automatically created. You can request to claim the Page and become its Admin by following the steps here. If you do not claim the Page, your Instagram Business Profile will not be connected to a Facebook Page and you will not be able to use Direct Scheduling.

4

Facebook requires Instagram Business Profiles to be connected to a Facebook Page, and therefore we need to authenticate your Instagram account through Facebook. Click Continue & Authenticate with Facebook.

5

Enter your Facebook login details and then click Continue.

IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE LOG INTO THE RIGHT FACEBOOK ACCOUNT

You will need to be logging into your personal Facebook Profile that has the Admin Role on the Facebook page connected to your Instagram account. If you log into a Facebook Profile that does not have the Admin Role on the Page, it will not be possible to connect your Instagram account and you'll see an error like this.

6

Finally, click Finish and return to your dashboard.
